We’ve been back for about a month now and I’m finally starting to get into the groove. In such a short amount of time I’ve managed to become additicted to this whole blogging thing. I started with a professional blog and now I can’t stop. And, there you have the creation of “Follow That Elephant!” Who knows what I’ll come up with next. Honestly, it all started because of work , where I have begun to develop our technology integration program. (I love this article from edutopia about tech integration, just in case you’re interested.) My goal for the year is to successfully integrate technology into our sixth grade social studies curriculum. Our first step was starting a blog with the kids (read all about the process at my other blog . It is so easy and so fun that I was inspired to keep going. But, don’t worry, I’ll keep this one on the personal side. I know tech integration isn’t the bees knees for everyone.
So, on that note, Alex and I arrived back in KL bright and early on a Saturday morning (I believe the official time was 6:15am, but after that 22 hour flight, I’ll be the first to admit that I actually have no idea when we landed). We had just about 48 hours to recover before going back to work on Monday morning. Let’s just say the weekend was filled with angry shouts of “Wake-up! If you don’t wake up RIGHT NOW you’re going to be exhausted on Monday!” You can guess who was doing the shouting and who was doing the sleeping. Despite our best efforts, we were both basically asleep for the first week of school. Luckily we are blessed with the best students ever (seriously, they are the BEST) so they were very understanding. Now that we’re a month into the routine, it feels like we never left. We’re back hanging out at our favorite haunts like the mall and, of course,
We have some extensive travel plans for the year. First off, back to Redang, Island in early October; then on to Bali in late October; and Vietnam in December/January. We’re thinking Thai islands in April, but haven’t made any definite plans yet. We decided to limit our choices only to destinations that Air Asia flies to, since they have enough to keep us busy for a while and they are less than a quarter the price of the national airline. Horay for budget airlines!
Also in the works is a new and improved website. Hopefully something that Alex and I can share, especially for recruitment purposes. As soon as it’s up and running, it will be posted here.
